  Ways you can give

Deferred Gifts:
* Bequests - A bequest is the act of giving any gift of property by means of a will.
* Endowments - A fund that is made up of gifts and bequests that are subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to create a source of income for an organization. Donors may set up an endowment to fund a specific interest; and a nonprofit's governing body may set up an endowment. In any case, an endowment requires that the principal remain intact in perpetuity, or for a defined period of time or until sufficient assets have been accumulated to achieve a designated purpose.
* Estate Planning - Estate planning is the process of anticipating and arranging for the disposal of an estate. You may wish to add The Children's Foundation as a beneficiary when implementing your estate planning.

Designated Gifts:
* Capital Improvements - The addition of a permanent structural improvement or the restoration of some aspect of a property that will either enhance the property's overall value or increases its useful life. You may wish to give to The Children's Foundation and designate the funds to a specific project or improvement.
* Maintenance - You may wish to give to a specific ongoing or one time maintenance project to help The Children's Foundation keep their property and facilities updated and cared for properly.
* Educational Programs - We have several educational programs that we support. You may wish to give specifically for a program that you feel is important to you. Contact us for information on our educational programs.

Tax Preferred Gifts:
* Appreciated Properties - For tax purposes, property that has appreciated in value is often a better asset than cash for you to give to The Children's Foundation.
Such Assets Include:
- Securities (stocks and bonds)
- Closely held company stock
- Tangible personal property (jewelry, works of art, musical instruments and other valuable assets)
You may give the property to The Children's Foundation outright, or indirectly through a life-income arrangement that enables you to make your gift and receive an income for life. A gift of appreciated property is often an intelligent alternative to selling the asset yourself and paying tax on the gain. In effect, the capital gains tax savings allows you to make a generous gift at lower “cost” than if you gave cash.
* Stocks, Bonds Etc. - See Appreciated Properties description above.

Matching Gift Funds:
* Gift Matching - Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their current and retired employees. Ask your employer if they participate in such programs or if they would like to start. If you are a business owner you may consider creating a matching gift fund for your employees.
